Identity ~ Miguel Torga

Sebastian Guerrini, Identity

Identity
I killed the moon and the diffuse moonlight.
I want the iron and cement verse.
And instead of rhymes, I like
The consonants that are in distress.

My universal and open instinct aids
Each struggling and afflicted heart.
Knowing well when to fight, when to trade
He gives to every cry his full support.

But as the inscriptions on the ridgeline
Have a much longer duration,
I spend hours and days to deny
The hardened forms of emotion.
Miguel Torga, in ‘Penas do Purgatório’

Identidade

Matei a lua e o luar difuso.

Universal e aberto, o meu instinto acode

Miguel Torga, in ‘Penas do Purgatório’
